What you need to know

A Little Bit Crafty's Swiss Roll uses simple half treble rows and clever construction for sweet results.

Roll up, roll up – there's a new bakery favourite in town! This Swiss Roll proves that simple stitches can create something truly delicious. Worked in straightforward half treble crochet rows, the sponge, cream filling and fruity jam layer are stitched separately before being cleverly rolled together to recreate the classic teatime treat.

Meet the designer

If you visited the Chelsea Flower Show in 2026, you may have spotted an array of delicious-looking crochet cakes on the display by Hare Spring Cottage Plants. They were made by Sue Brooks from A Little Bit Crafty, a family-run yarn and crafts shop based in Kingsbridge, Devon. We’re delighted to be featuring these mouth-watering patterns on letsknit.co.uk for you to download, and you can find the full collection on A Little Bit Crafty's designer page. Bon appétit!
